Postmodernism

With any form of art we get a sense of how the people felt during that certain period in time. And after comparing and dissecting each component on these two paintings in The Theory Toolbox we can see and feel the difference between them. The Van Gogh painting is well painted and in a way gives us this sense of sadness. Not to mention that the shows look worn out and resemble that of your typical workers boot. We then have Andy Warhol’s painting that is completely different in style and in form. We have these shoes that give us a different reaction. As mentioned before, these paintings show us how different these two generations are from one another.

Postmodernism, in my perspective, is about a progressive phenomenon. It is about being free and doing the unimaginable. Andy Warhol’s painting is this fresh new form of artwork that is spreading throughout the world. And after reading Nealon and Giroux’s explanation on postmodernism gives us the sense that not only does the artist do the work, but it is also the viewer who has a job when it comes to looking at the art. They have the chance at examining it and giving their interpretation on it.
